The Colors of Brotherhood – Red & Yellow, Black & White

READ : Romans 12:9-21

This month you have allowed me to share my social and spiritual roots. This last day of the month I want to call on another spiritual from my people’s psalter. The song they pass on to us today embraces all of God’s people. Let us pause outside of the little meeting house where they worshiped. Listen:

Walk together children, Don’t you get weary

Talk together, sing together, be happy together

There’s a great camp meeting in the promised land.

They knew that singing kingdom songs together made several households into one family of faith. As we stand outside listening, we too are drawn in by the words.

Walk together children, Don’t you get weary.

There’s a great camp meeting in the promised land.

They were singing about all of God’s children.

Green and purple, orange and blue.

Color makes no difference, not even the hue.

They invite us to join their song, walk together and so fulfill the law of Christ. Love one another. May God give each of us a broadened fellowship with all Christians.

PRAYER

Thank You, Lord, for differences that are overcome by the love of Your Son. In His name. Amen.
