READ : Exodus 4:1-17
Moses couldn’t believe that God wanted to use him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Even after He showed him signs and wonders, Moses still couldn’t believe that God wanted to use this old shepherd who had difficulty speaking. God called Moses to use his weakness, his voice, to talk to Pharaoh and persuade him to lead the people out of their bondage.
I often feel like Moses. Moses couldn’t believe that God could use his less than perfect voice. I sometimes can’t believe that God wants me to write. I have a difficult time spelling and using correct grammar. Moses’ weakness was speaking, yet God still used him. One of my weaknesses is the mechanics of writing, but, as with Moses, God often uses us at the point of our weakness. God knew all about Moses’ speech impediment, so He sent Aaron to help him. I need help with my writing, and God is well aware of that. He has given me people to help me edit my work.
Why does God want to use the very thing that is difficult for us? It is because God wants to show us that it is not our doing, but it is His working through us. The apostle Paul wrote, “For I haveworked harder than all the other apostles, yet actually I wasn’t doing it, but God working in me, to bless me” (1 Cor. 15:10b, TLB).
Thank You, Lord, for working at the point of our weakness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
