READ : Luke 12:22-31
Someone has said that “worry reigns over more human beings than any other potentate.” A Nobel-prize-winning physician once observed, “Businessmen who don’t know how to fight worry die young.” That’s true not only of businessmen but of farmers and preachers, housewives and teachers, doctors and secretaries, nurses and dentists, and members of any other occupation you might care to mention.
“Do not worry…but seek God’s kingdom, and these others things will be given to you as well.” Our Lord’s prescription for worry is simple: Allow God’s ways to become the dominating force in your life.
If Jesus were here today, He might ask each of us, “What is it that drives you…stimulates you…rules over and controls your life? Is it the Kingdom of God or the kingdom of self? The Kingdom of God or thekingdom of family? The Kingdom of God or the kingdom of popularity? The Kingdom of God or the kingdom of possessions? The Kingdom of God or the kingdom of pleasure? The Kingdom of God or the kingdom of success? What is the dominating, driving force in your life?”
The teaching of Jesus is this: When you are able to answer “God and His ways,” then these other things you worry about will fall into place for you as well. GET RIGHT WITH GOD.
Heavenly Father, help me to always live in the center of Your will. For Jesus’ sake. Amen.
