He Heals all Our Diseases

READ : Psalm 103:1-5
Mark 7:14-20

I could never understand what the psalmist meant when he affirmed that God heals all our diseases. That was because I was looking only at what my eyes could see, our outward physical ailments. We all have diseases in our hearts to which we are enslaved and these keep us from a walk with God. Our bodily ailments may sometimes be the means God uses to heal our real infirmities, such as self-centeredness, our need for control, greed, power, and success.

God desires pure hearts, hearts that seek to know Him, seek to love Him with all our whole being. This is the first and greatest commandment. It may take physical disabilities or personal calamities to enable us to respond to that commandment and to recognize our true potential.

Praise the Lord that He loves us so much that He can turn negative externals into internal gems. Paul states in 2 Corinthians 12:8,9 that he pleaded with the Lord to remove his thorn in the flesh. God said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” What we may perceive as our affliction may be the means that allows God’s power to be evidenced. The world perceives our external state but God perceives our heart. The core of our being requires healing.

PRAYER

Dear Father, Heal us from every infirmity that prevents us from being whole in Your sight. For Jesus’ sake. Amen.
