READ : Psalm 51:1-19

David’s psalm of repentance is one of the most touching written. Why? Because in our relationship to the Lord we need to come before Him at one time or another and bare and expose our own sinfulness to Him. If we do a careful inventory deep within, we will all find things that are displeasing to the Lord. Jesus says that if we think we are without sin, we fool ourselves and the truth is not in us. Because of our sin, He suffered and died for us.

There is no greater joy than experiencing the love, forgiveness, cleansing and spiritual renewal of taking all our guilt and laying it at the foot of the cross. The fact that Jesus wipes the slate clean and allows us to begin again is totally awesome. As in David’s situation the results of our actions may be long lasting. However, the heaviness that weighs within is lifted and we can live with a joy and peace knowing that we are fully restored before the Lord.

When we experience such great mercy, we need to extend mercy to others. We must be quick to forgive those who wrong us. Our Father doesn’t hold a grudge we must not either. Psalm 103:12 says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Let us live a humble life of renewal and gratitude!

Father, You are so awesome thank You for the forgiveness given to us through Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen
