Born Like Us

READ : Hebrews 4:14-16

People who are alike get along better than those persons who have little in common. Plumbers understand plumbers; mothers understand mothers; children like to be with other children. One thing so great about our Savior Jesus Christ is that He was born a human being like us. We have, therefore, a Savior who identifies with us in every way. He was tempted by sin as we are. The difference between Christ and us is that He did not give in to temptation.

On the Jewish Day of Atonement the high priest would enter the most Holy Place in the Tabernacle and offer to God the blood sacrifice taken from a one-year-old lamb. The life of the lamb was given in exchange for the sins of the people. Jesus Christ is God’s lamb for us. What a Savior!

When Leonardo daVinci was forty-three years old, the Duke of Milan asked him to paint the dramatic scene of Jesus’ Last Supper with His disciples. He gave attention to every detail. He painted a cup in Christ’s right hand. Leonardo asked his friend for an opinion. His friend exclaimed, “The cup is so real I cannot take my eyes off of it.” Immediately, Leonardo took his brush and painted out the sparkling cup. He wanted nothing to detract from the figure of Christ. Let our eyes see Christ alone.

Lord Jesus, we offer our praise to You for interceding to the Father on our behalf. Amen.
