No Excuse for Sin

READ : Hebrews 10:26-39

God is straightforward with all of us. He makes plain the consequences of failing to respond to Christ. God is a God of love, but He is opposed to all evil. People who persist in the wrong, even though they have professed Christ, face judgment. If a Christian keeps on sinning, then the cross is made of no consequence. This does not mean that sin after a conversion will not be forgiven. It does mean that a Christian should not deliberately sin and presume on the mercy of God.

Every morning in Africa a gazelle wakes up knowing it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle; when the sun comes up, you better be running. Charles Spurgeon wrote, “If you are not seeking the Lord, the Devil is seeking you. If you are not seeking the Lord; judgment is at your heels.” When the Christian awakes every morning, it is not enough to do nothing. The Christian must run and become more like Christ, pressing ahead in His righteousness.

This is reality, we must please God or God is displeased with us. God’s love for us demands a response of love.

O Lord, keep me from deliberate sin. May my love for You stay faithful. Amen.
