The Faith Factor

The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, speaks of the Creator’s great love for His creation. In the history of His redeeming work, God has brought us into covenant with Himself. The covenant of grace assures us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. John tells us that “to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God” (John 1:12).

Jesus performed many miracles among those who believed in His love and power. We are told that “whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him” (Heb. 11:6). He indicated it was not the amount of their faith that made the difference, but the object. On the other hand, we read he could not do many mighty works in other places because of unbelief.

The healing power of the Lord is not confined to the first century. Dr. Harold Koenig, Duke Psychiatrist, found that spirituality makes a big difference: faith makes people feel better especially those with chronic illness and heal faster. The “faith factor” is real. Does the skepticism of our secular, “scientific” age prevent the Lord from doing His mighty works today?

Lord, increase our faith. Help us to claim the great promises for forgiveness, salvation and healing You have made to Your children. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
