READ : Isaiah 58:11
In summer, when we go through a season of drought, it is depressing to see plants and grass wither and turn yellow. Then when the rains come everything turns green again and springs back to life. Plants cannot do without rain.
In a similar way, we humans need spiritual water to revive us. The water of life mentioned in our Bible reading is our Lord and Savior, and people need Him. They need to know that death does not have to be the end for them . . . that God in the giving of His dear Son gives us an eternal spring of living water.
When we accept the Lord Jesus as our Savior, He supplies us with the gift of eternal life and fills our lives with His love like a well- watered garden.
In John 4, we read the story of Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well. Jesus used this opportunity to tell this woman about the water of life that springs up inside and gives us eternal life. This is also expressed in Revelation 21:6b, “To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.”
Come to the water; come to Jesus; give Him your life and you will never thirst again. We all have yearnings that only He can fill. Find your satisfaction in Him.
Dear Lord, thank You for this water of life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
