No One Has Power Over the Wind

READ : Ecclesiastes 8:1-17

Trying to figure out how God works in our lives is often like trying to find a piece of a puzzle that is missing. Romans 8:28 (kjv) tells us, “All things work together for good to them that love God.” The key words here are “to them that love God.” The promise is to those who meet this specific requirement.

Today’s title is taken from verse 8. Here the wind refers to the spirit departing after death. Certainly no one has the power to prevent death. It comes to all.

Not only do we lack the power to avoid death, we also do not have the power to understand fully the ways of God. Verse 17 tells us how no one can comprehend all that God does under the sun. God’s ways are indeed difficult to understand and sometimes difficult to accept.

But if we turn our hearts against God, we have nothing left and life will have no meaning, for living for one’s self has no rewards. We have only one life to live and it’s what we do for Christ that will last. Having Christ’s love in our hearts and letting Him rule as our Lord and King produces a life blessed by His love and care. Some day the wind of death will blow for each one of us, and no one has the power to keep it from blowing.

Dear Lord, thank You for Your love and the gift of eternal life, for we know when the wind blows for us, our spirit will depart to be with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
