READ : Matthew 18:15-20
“If two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them” (v. 20).
Have you ever faced a situation where you felt powerless to believe? Are there times when you feel able to pray for someone else’s need, but have about given up for your own? Can you remember when you have felt profoundly alone, and that no one seemed to care? Do you wonder at times if Christian community really works?
If you answered yes to the above questions, you understand why God loves and endorses COMMUNITY. He encourages us not to forget our assembling together, and He wants us to uphold one another in prayer. He especially promises blessing when two of us agree together about what we ask of Him. This could be you and your spouse, you and a child, you and your pastor, or you and a friend.
One person had faith to pray for a friend’s son, but none for his own need. They agreed together to pray for each other’s sons as well as for their own, and God answered prayer for both of them.
Someone has said that one horse can haul two tons, but two horses can haul twenty-three. Let’s not neglect praying with others!
Dear Lord, lead us to find prayer partners who will agree together with us in seeking You. Amen.
