The Creation and the Book

READ : Psalm 19:1-14

God has made Himself known in two ways, through natural revela tion (vv. l-6) and through special revelation (vv. 7-14). In natural revelation God shows through the creation that He is a God of power and wisdom. “The heavens declare the glory of God.” If the Psalmist was impressed by the creation, how much more ought we to be. Astronomers, using ever more powerful telescopes, have discovered that the size of the universe is beyond imagination. With the microscope we see tiny structures which are amazing. How great is the God who created everything, who also sustains it. We learn about God from nature.

But from the creation we do not know enough about God to have a personal relationship with Him, so God revealed Himself to people and this revelation was recorded in the Bible. Here we learn all we need to know to give life ultimate meaning.

God’s further revelation after the days of David culminated in the sending of His own Son to earth. He revealed God perfectly and that revelation was added to the Book to provide us with a wonderful source of ultimate knowledge. Believing what is in this Book leads to a wonderful relationship to God Himself. Are you experiencing that relationship? You can. Read the Book. Learn about Jesus. Believe what the Book says about Him.

Father, we praise You for revealing Yourself through Your Son. In His name. Amen
