Come and See!

Scott Nichols

READ : John 1:35-46

The first seekers to follow in Jesus’ footsteps were encouraged to “come and see.” That same offer is given to each of us. Our faith is not shrouded in mystery. Jesus is real. He lived in a real place at a real time. The Gospels were written so that we could see and feel what those first disciples saw and felt about Him.

As we traveled through the places of Jesus’ ministry, we sensed that people then were not so different than people now. They had the same needs and concerns. They felt the same joys and sorrows as we do. And Jesus moved among them, preaching, teaching and touching them. When people had questions, he answered them. He never turned a genuine seeker away.

Sadly, there are many in our world who ask, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Or out of Israel?” They dismiss Jesus as a fictional figure or at best merely a good teacher. He is so much more than that. He is the Word become flesh. He is the Savior of His people Israel. He is the Light of the World. The Bread of Life. All this and so much more. Take the time to find out. Spend time in the Word and heed the invitation to “Come and see!”

Question: If you could ask Jesus one question, what would it be?

Lord Jesus, help us to see that You are who You say You are. Amen.
