A Happy Ending

READ : Job 42:10-16

The good news of Job’s last one hundred forty years begins with a prayer of forgiveness and loving intercession resulting in restored relationships with friends. I’ve known friends, even family members, who never experience restored relationships.

We need a celebration! Food enough for everyone for several days! Hugs and gifts for all. We need to party more in the church!

Don’t miss the happiest moment of all, the celebration of our coming resurrection! Job affirmed his belief earlier (Job 19:23-26). God now affirms this truth for Job. Nearly everything was doubled from what Job had before. Sheep, camels, oxen, donkeys, possessions, everything. The only exception was in the number of children. Seven sons and three daughters. Why not fourteen sons and six daughters? The only explanation, I believe, is that God was saying to Job, “You have seven sons and three daughters here with you and seven sons and three daughters waiting for you in heaven!”

Job’s last days were wonderful! His loving wife who stayed with Job all through his troubles and pain is there by his side. He lived long enough to see his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren walking with the Lord.

Father, we who have a wonderful family thank You. We who do not, ask for Your grace to make helpful changes. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
