READ : Joshua 3:1-17
Yesterday we examined the faith of an individual, today we observe the faith of an entire nation. Keep in mind that this Old Testament book deals with much more than ancient history; it also pertains to your life what God wants to do here and now for those who trust Him.
In the Christian life, you’re either an overcomer or you’re overcome, a victor or a victim. Remember that God didn’t save us to make statues out of us and put us on exhibit. He saved us to make us His people people on the move as we follow Him. Too many of God’s people have the mistaken idea that salvation means only being delivered from bondage, but that’s just the beginning! Both in our personal spiritual growth and in our service for the Lord, there is always a lot more to do and experience. Joshua’s theme is: move onward. The only way to go is by faith.
After a long pilgrimage through the wilderness, everyone anticipated the day when God would lead them out of the desert and into Canaan. Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you” (3:5). People who move forward in faith are always ready to be amazed at what God will do with and through a consecrated life!
Make me ready to follow You in faith, O God, and then lead me to participate in the amazing things You have planned. For Jesus’ sake. Amen.
