READ : Luke 1:76-80
For the next two days, our Praying Through the Window focus shifts to some of the least evangelized peoples of Southeast Asia. Today’s prayer list includes China’s animistic Li and Bouyei peoples as well as the Khmer of Cambodia and the Lao of Laos.
Countless bombs rained down on Laos during years of devastating regional war. About the same time, 3.3 million Cambodians were slain during the Khmer Rouge’s demonic reign of genocidal terror in the late 1970’s. Shell-shocked Laotians and Cambodians now yearn for the kind of true peace that Zechariah foretold about the Messiah in Luke 1:79: “To shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.” That lasting peace comes only as sinners repent and seek forgiveness in the name of God’s only Son Jesus Christ.
Laos and Cambodia are traditionally Buddhist. The Holy Spirit is now working powerfully in both nations. Many listeners are responding to Words of HOPEs Lao, Hmong, and Kmer radio broadcasts. Millions prayed for these nations during the first two Praying Through the Window initiatives in 1993 and 1995. Many accepted Christ and embraced a new spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation. Pray for fresh breakthroughs again this year!
Lord of all nations, guide those living in fearful darkness into Your path of salvation and peace. Amen.
