He Will Destroy the Shroud

Lee DeYoung

READ : Isaiah 25:6-9

In chapter 25, Isaiah’s song of praise celebrates the deliverance of God’s people from all nations: “Therefore strong peoples will honor you; cities of ruthless nations will revere you” (v. 3).

Throughout his prophecy, Isaiah often looks forward to that momentous day when “the Lord Almighty will reign on Mount Zion” (Isa. 24:23). The prophet glorifies the Sovereign Lord who “will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations” (v. 7). Isaiah foresees a glorious day when the Lord will lift, by the light of His gospel shining throughout the world, a burial shroud which has spiritually blinded so many for so long.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will open the hearts of the Urdu and Kashmiri peoples (of Pakistan and India), the Deccani (of India’s arid Deccan Plateau), and the Maldivian people (of the Maldive Islands).

Among these Muslim peoples, the Kashmiris have probably been the most difficult to reach. For decades Kashmir has endured a deadly struggle for independence from India and Pakistan. That bloody conflict has effectively closed Kashmir to outsiders. But there are recent signs that the Spirit may be changing the lives of many Kashmiris through Words of HOPE’s gospel broadcasts. Beseech the Lord to grant each new seeker the strength to endure any opposition from friends and family members.

Prince of Peace, open hearts to Your salvation. Amen.
