Bearing Fruit All Over the World

READ : Colossians 1:3-13

Paul’s evangelistic ministry achieved extraordinary results on a vast international scale. His commitment to prayer was similarly impressive. This is no coincidence! These two hallmarks of Paul’s life were inseparable. Prayer was a crucial key to his fruitfulness: “Since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will” (v. 9).

As a result of Paul’s intense commitment and inspired vision, “All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing” (v. 6). Pray today that the Good News of Jesus Christ will continue to spread to more peoples of Sahel Africa, including the Fulani (of Nigeria, Senegal, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon), the Wolof (of Senegal and Gambia), the Gur (of Mali, Togo, Burkina Faso, Ghana), and the Fon (of Benin). The Fon and Gur peoples are animistic. Fulani are traditionally Islamic. Both religions are practiced among the Wolof.

Although Fulani life has changed very little for more than a millenium, praise God that several Fulani families have recently turned to Christ and are beginning to reach out to their fellow tribesmen.

With Paul, give thanks to our heavenly Father. “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves” (vv. 13-14). Hallelujah!

King of glory, draw entire villages to Jesus Christ. Amen.
