READ : Isaiah 49:13-18
My mother helps me with almost every aspect of life, from assisting with every meal to helping me edit my writing. Life would be extremely difficult without her. Usually Mom remembers when I need help, but there are times when she forgets I need her.
God, our heavenly Father, will never forget us, His children. Though the Bible assures us that the Lord never forgets, sometimes we still feel as if He has overlooked our needs. When reading the Bible, it is easy to find people who might have felt that God had neglected them. Daniel might have wondered if God had forgotten him when he was being thrown in the lion’s den. The people of Israel might have felt that God was distant as they wandered in the desert for forty years. Paul and Silas might have wondered where God was as they sat in that dark prison. But God didn’t forget these people. He sent an angel into that lion’s den to save Daniel. God eventually led the Israelites to the promised land. The Lord sent an earthquake to release Paul and Silas from jail.
Our heavenly Father promises that He will never forget us. “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Heb. 13:5b). When we feel like God has forgotten us, let us hold on to that promise and remember that God has never once forgotten His children.
We praise You, Father, that You will never forget us. Help us to trust in that promise. In Your Son’s name. Amen.
