Surely the Day is Coming

READ : Malachi 4:1-3
Luke 1:76-79

We have entered the season of Advent which means “coming.” It is the season of preparation for what God says is coming. God spoke through His prophet Malachi and said, “Surely the day is coming.” In spite of what some claim, no one but God knows what is coming in the future. We must never doubt that everything God has told us will come to pass!

What is coming? Malachi was told that two major events are coming: 1) The destruction of all who reject God and continue to do evil, and 2) The Sun of Righteousness will come, bringing eternal joy and blessing for all who revere the name of God.

Look at what had already happened. Generations waited for the Messiah to come. Then the angel Gabriel appeared to Zachariah and told him he would have a son who would prepare the way for the Messiah. A few months later John was born. That same year the virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus, the Messiah. Surely the “Sun of Righteous ness” will return again, as He promised.

Christians live in the present, but we must anticipate what God says is coming in the future. Let’s use our time together this month to prepare our hearts for what God says is coming. Who is coming? Christ, the Sun of Righteousness, is coming! With Him, heavenly blessing is coming for all who love Him.

You are coming, Jesus, just as You said. You will bring eternal blessing to all who love You. Amen.
