"Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?"

Richard Huls

READ : Genesis 18:16-21

God seems to be asking himself if he might keep a secret from Abraham, a true believer. God is contemplating destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Should Abraham know about it? The wonder of it is that God does share with Abraham.

To be a part of the plan of God is an exhilarating and blessed experience. We are very limited. We constantly struggle to learn the secrets of life. Scientists boast almost daily by conducting experiments in the solar system, unlocking the mysteries of the universe. And yet there is a constant debate. How much do we really know about life? We bow before the miracle of a birth and stand in awe at the phenomena of death.

When God decides to let us in on his plan, it is an awesome thing. To be included in God’s plan we are allowed to see heavenly truth. Even the angels are not aware of all these plans. What they longed to look into, we are able to see! God allows us to see what is in his plans. In the case of Abraham it was God telling him through the angel of the Lord. For the world today, it happens through Jesus Christ. We especially see this during Lent. We remember how Jesus shared with his disciples the truths of his sacrifice on our behalf.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for opening your truth to us. Amen.
