Pleasing Him in Every Way: Power

READ : Colossians 1:11
1 Kings 17:7-16

As the surgeon concentrates upon her work, she gives a crisp request for each tool she needs. Scalpel. Whap! Forceps. Whap! Sutures. Whap! She doesn’t need all at the same time. The nurse hands her the right one at the right time.

Paul prays for us to be “strengthened with all power according to his glorious might.” We can believe that whenever God gives us a job to do he also makes sure that power is available at the right time.

I love the story about the widow of Zarephath. When Elijah said “bake me some bread and you’ll have all the flour and oil you’ll need,” she does the unexpected and believes. I would have demanded to see the flour and oil up front. But whenever God gives a job, he supplies the power to do it. And that power is a sign that God is working in us.

God’s power may not come all at once. It may not come as we expect. It might be physical power or material provision. Or God may demonstrate his power by helping you to live a life that pleases him even in the most difficult of circumstances. In whatever God is calling you to do, he will supply the power.

Father, give us the power to do what you want us to do.
