Paul's Ministry: A Perfect Presentation

READ : Colossians 1:28

Professor Howard Hendricks once made the statement that we all need three people who will invest their lives in ours. A “Paul” someone to be a mentor like Paul was to Timothy. “Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction….” (1 Timothy 1:18). Secondly, a Barnabas a friend to come alongside of us, like Barnabas did for Paul. “When he came to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he really was a disciple. But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles” (Acts 9:26,27). And, most importantly, everyone needs a Timothy someone into whom you are pouring your life. “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).

Paul says that his goal is to present the Colossian Christians “perfect in Christ.” The most important contribution you can make to the next generation is to pour yourself into the present one. Who is that person you want to present “perfect in Christ”?

Father, who is it that you want me to begin pouring my life into? Show me the person I may help to bring to maturity in Christ. Amen
