Freedom in Christ: Completing The Puzzle

2 Corinthians 5:17

It was late at night in a mostly empty hospital waiting room. There it was a jigsaw puzzle. I had this strange desire to sneak over to the table, snatch a puzzle piece and put it in my pocket. Then wait for someone to come along and start the puzzle. I could just see them studying that puzzle for a long time only to find that there was one piece missing.

Ever since Adam sinned and passed down to us our sinful nature we have had a huge piece missing inside us. We are spiritually incomplete, because we’re out of touch with God. We are morally incomplete, because we can’t do what is right. We lack the ability to do it. And we are mentally incomplete, because we can’t understand spiritual truth.

But Paul says that our freedom “in Christ” results in our being made whole again. Since we share in the very nature of Jesus Christ we are now complete people.

Is something missing in your life? Ask Jesus to take over your life and put back the missing piece himself and make you complete.

Father, thank you that you make us complete again through Jesus. Amen.
