READ : 1 Corinthians 15:35-49
My friend Marvin Thomas is an excellent Bible student and is convinced Jesus will return very soon. With a Bible in one hand and a newspaper in the other, that seems logical.
The Shepherd’s Home in Wisconsin has a problem with dirty windows. Although many of its residents are severely disabled, they love Jesus and understand that he has promised to return someday and give them new bodies. The superintendent said, “Every day some of them go to the windows and press their noses against the glass, looking for him!” Their expectation is genuine. Their irreversible mental and physical limitations fuel their longing for the day when they will be perfectly whole and free. Never mind smudged windows.
The day of Jesus’ return is a day to fear if we are not believers. But it is a day believers anticipate. What a wonderful day that will be The Apostle John wrote about that day “We know we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure” (1 John 3:2,3). Jesus said, “Keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. So you also must be ready” (Matt: 24:42,44). Friends, keep looking to Jesus always!
Dear Jesus, help us to be watchful. To be ready! Amen.
