Not Losing Your Cool

READ : Daniel 3:19-30

What a story! Do you believe it? Had God not promised in Isaiah 43:2, “When you walk through fire you shall not be burned”? Nebuchadnezzar can hardly believe his eyes when he looks into the mouth of the furnace and sees, not three, but four men, untied and free, walking around in a fire so hot it killed the men who threw them in.

Learn the lessons from this incident. First: “Evil always sees itself as justified, as doing right.” Some of the worst human butchers in history have claimed to have high ideals, to be ridding the world of some awful danger.

Second: believers who turn their problem over to the Lord can have perfect peace. Whether it was a Joseph in prison in Egypt, or Elijah on Mount Carmel, or Paul and Silas in prison, they experienced deliverance.

Third, even the most vicious, stubborn enemy of the gospel can have his or her eyes opened by God to the folly of unbelief.

Christians in many parts of the world today are undergoing persecution at the hands of powerful leaders and governments. It is our privilege to pray that God will protect and deliver them.

Use us, Lord, as witnesses to the greatest power in the world, the love of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
