Stirred to Witness and Pray

1 Corinthians 1:18-25

When I graduated from high school, I was an atheist. Raised in a non-religious home, I went off to the University of Michigan and discovered that many of my professors were atheists! How smug and intellectually superior that made me feel! After all, those learned teachers were surely among the smartest in the state if not the country! Later at three other universities, I found the same no-faith.

Then in mid-life, I met an 82-year-old widow whose faith-filled prayer life blew me away. A minister’s daughter and a minister’s widow, Carrie knew the Bible thoroughly and believed it completely. She had a deep faith and a rich relationship with her Lord. Her prayers brought amazing answers! Stirred by her extraordinary experiences, I decided to do some “prayer experiments” of my own to see if what she and the Bible were telling me could possibly be true. The results? God answered my prayers. I became a Christian.

I was led to Christ through the witness of one person. Are you witnessing too?

Father, thank you that the promises of the Bible can be acted upon and proven. Give us the courage to tell others the truth. Amen.
