READ : Galatians 3:1-5
Today, Paul asks five rhetorical questions, questions asked only to emphasize a point. No answer is expected. How did these believers receive the Holy Spirit of God? Was it by observing the laws of Moses or by believing what Paul had taught them? They knew the answer. It was by believing in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Paul was asking them to think back to the time of their conversion, when their lives were changed. This change, which was real and traumatic, took place because they believed what they heard from Paul.
The greatest proof of the truth of Paul’s gospel is found in the countless thousands who have been transformed by its power. I think of a young man who spent the early years of his adulthood as a slave of alcohol and drugs. Then one day he was witnessed to by a member of Teen Challenge. The gospel was explained in a way that he could understand and to which he could relate. He believed and surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. Today he is clean, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and serving full-time in the ministry of Jesus Christ.
The proof of the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ is in the results it produces.
Father God, thank you for the gospel which transforms the lives of all who believe. Amen.
