READ : Galatians 3:6-9
Today Paul goes back into Jewish history to show how it was God’s intention that both Jews and Non-Jews be saved by faith only. He calls attention to the Jewish teaching concerning Abraham. He writes, “Concerning Abraham, he believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Abraham lived 400 years before Moses and thus could not be saved by keeping the teachings of Moses. That was physically impossible. The children of Abraham were saved byfaith only as Abraham was.
But there is more. It was also taught that through Abraham all the nations would be blessed. The blessing was that they too would be saved by faith. So both Jews and Gentiles are saved only through faith in the God of Abraham.
What a glorious thought! All people of every race, tongue and nation are saved through faith in the God of Abraham. The God of Abraham loved the world so much that he gave his only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
Dear friend, it is my prayer that you have a sincere, personal faith in the God who has redeemed you through his blessed Son, Jesus Christ.
God of grace and glory, I pray for friends and neighbors who have not yet come to know you as the giver of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Amen.
