READ : Psalm 62:1-12
David had wrestled with many problems and had learned that there was only One who could help him- the Living God. “He alone is my rock” (v. 2). “He alone is my rock and salvation” (v. 6).
I, too, have had many problems, the worst being the cancer that I am now battling. I have found the word of the Psalmist to be true. These problems have driven me closer and closer to the loving heart of God. It has been a good experience to lean wholly on the grace of God.
Whatever your problem, my friend, the inspired Word of God and I who seeks to interpret it responsibly invite you to find your help in him. “Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge” (v. 8).
We live in a world where many people put their trust in other sources of help. The accumulation of wealth is the source of confidence for many. The Psalmist proclaims this as a false hope. “Though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them” (v. 10b).
We have every reason to put all our trust in the God of the Bible, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, because he has revealed himself as trustworthy. He has two great qualities: power and love (vv. 11,12).
Lord, help us in our need, for Jesus’ sake. Amen
