READ : Psalm 82:1-8
God evaluates our unfair actions and our partiality. He carries out his judgments constantly. We may find his ways difficult to understand because we see so much injustice in the world (v. 2). The Psalmist cries out for God to carry out his judgments on behalf of oppressed people. So many of us live in such comfort and isolation that we forget the millions who are oppressed. May God act mightily on their behalf. Let us determine to do what we can to alleviate their condition. We must not only preach the gospel but feed the hungry and take up the cause of those being abused.
While God carries out his judgments within history, the Bible makes it very clear that there will also be a final judgment (v. 8). We should pray that the judgment day will come soon when God will straighten out all that is wrong. We shall all stand before his judgment seat. Be sure that your hope is in Christ. Realize that we will be judged according to our works. Rewards will vary depending on how unselfishly we have lived our lives in these few short years we have in this world. The day is coming when all the injustices will be righted. That is difficult for us to understand. But God is responsible and fair and he will do it.
Come quickly, Lord Jesus, and right the wrong. Amen.
