Put Your Whole Heart Into It!

READ : Jeremiah 29:10-14
Psalm 105:1-3

Isn’t it exciting to go to a football game and hear the crowds cheering for their team? There is explosive excitement in the air. Everyone is filled with enthusiasm.

I wonder what would happen to the world if every Christian were filled with equal enthusiasm for serving God. When Jeremiah wrote to the people of Judah, they were captives in Babylonia. Jeremiah was telling them that God wanted them to work in Babylonia with enthusiasm until he would rescue them. God said, “You will worship me with all your heart and I will be with you” (v. 13, cev). The Psalm tells us to “celebrate and worship his holy name with all your heart.”

Members of our congregation went on a mission trip to aid destitute people in Appalachia. When they reported to the congregation, they were filled with excitement. Their hard work was made easier by their enthusiasm. And they actually had lots of fun there.

When we put our hearts into each new day, saying, “This is the day the Lord has made, I

rejoice and be glad in it,” the day will go much better. If we expect the worst, that is usually what we get.

Father, help us to put our hearts into serving you, for we know you will always be there for us. Amen.
