I am grateful for the many agencies that help disabled people purchase the expensive equipment they need. Without their help, I would not have a speech device, a van lift, or an electric wheelchair. In dealing with these agencies I found they were so overworked that it was necessary to telephone frequently to check on the progress of my case. I could not speak on the phone but Mom, out of love for me, became my advocate.
Webster’s Dictionary says an advocate is, “one who pleads the case of another.” Jesus Christ, who loves us deeply, is our advocate who is continually before God’s holy throne interceding for all who believe in his name. Do we really need someone pleading our case in heaven? We sure do! As the sinless Intercessor, Jesus forgives our sins and repairs the relationship with our heavenly Father. He prays that we will overcome temptation and will not neglect our faith. He gives us enough grace to live every day.
Knowing how my mom constantly presses my case helps me understand and be grateful that I have a heavenly advocate who is continuously on the job. He never stops praying for me. Join me in praising and giving thanks for every prayer he offers on our behalf.
Jesus, thank you for caring for me and being my perfect advocate. Amen.
