Celebrate God All Day Every Day

We all face problems every day that tend to discourage us. Sometimes in my dental practice a crown doesn’t fit and I have to do it over. My wife forgets to take the cookies out of the oven and they burn. When we get back to the parking lot we find that our car door has been nicked. A broken appointment wastes hours of our carefully planned schedule. That stupid driver ahead of us insists on driving the speed limit when we’re in a hurry!

Should trivial experiences like these cause our inner peace to go up and down like a roller coaster? Is this consistent with what we have learned from the Bible? The Apostle Paul says, “Rejoice in the Lord always.” He continues, “I have learned to be content in any and every situation.” He had found the secret for permanent, continuous inner peace and joy, based not on ordinary events but on the never-changing presence and promises of God-in-Christ. And so can we.

Thank you, Lord, for your promise to be with us and give us a settled peace and joy in every trial or irritation we may face today. Amen.
