Heaven or a Cure

READ : Mark 9:14-24

Ruth, my wife, noticed her right away. Mrs. Kim, a young Korean mother sitting near her at Namgwang Church, had a very large tumor on her neck. It was obviously a goiter, but Mrs. Kim was sure she was going to die. She had come to church either to get cured or go to heaven.

Her understanding of medicine and of Christian truths may have
been a little lacking, but God saved her anyway. Ruth arranged for her to have surgery at our hospital. Mrs. Kim was completely cured, and she accepted Christ as her Savior. She was later baptized with several of her children. She has been a faithful friend and servant of the church every since.

Sometimes our prayers are not based on solid truth. Even then God honors our imperfect faith. He graciously answers our requests for help. Jesus once healed a child in response to the father’s plea, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” He can do the same for us if we let him.

Dear God, often our faith seems so weak. Thank you for accepting us just as we are. Please help our faith to grow stronger day by day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
