Vision Sustains Endurance

READ : Hebrews 12:1-6

My father’s lifelong goal was to climb a mountain near our home. At age 70 he and I ventured out as complete novices. Carrying only walking sticks and a camera we hiked halfway up the mountain. It was a breeze! But soon the tiny rocks beneath our feet grew into life-size boulders! I was ready to end our hike and go home. But my father in his stubborn determination said, “You can turn back if you want, but I’m going to the top!” His passion compelled me to join him. The view from the peak drove us to persevere to the top together. I’ll never forget his arms lifted high above his head at the sight of the city beneath us. At last, the thrill of victory!

Jesus could endure the agony and shame of the cross because of his joy in knowing that his pain would bring us peace with our Creator. He focused on the restored relationship we would have with our Father God. He envisioned passionate worship around the throne of God by people from every race for all eternity.

What cross are you enduring now? Do you have a vision to sustain you with joy until you reach the finish line?

Thank you, Jesus, for enduring the cross for me. Help me to finish this course set before me with perseverance.
