READ : Psalm 145:1-21
The early church father Augustine wrote, “a Christian should be an alleluia from head to foot.” In other words, embody praise with all that you are!
To help you be an alleluia on this Thanksgiving Day read Psalm 145 aloud. If you are with a group ask each person to read a verse or two.
Pause for a minute of silence to allow the words to sink in and touch your heart.
What stirred in your heart as you reflected on this Psalm? Briefly discuss your answer with someone.
In this hymn David offers exuberant praise and thanksgiving to God, the King of the universe, for who he is and what he has done! David declares, “Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever.”
Think about which expressions of praise in Psalm 145 are most natural for you and which ones are not (i.e. singing, celebrating, proclaiming, meditating).
In order for you to become an alleluia from head to toe what do you sense God inviting you to do? Briefly share what actions you will take.
Honor God with heartfelt praise! Set your inhibitions aside and really go for it this Thanksgiving!
Wondrous God, I marvel at your unfathomable greatness, innate goodness, and awesome works!
