READ : Psalm 95:1-5
The fall air was cool and crisp. My husband Rod and I were driving along the picturesque Pacific coastline from Washington state back to our home in southern California. Instead of blasting down the highway, this year we allowed enough time for a leisurely road trip.
The entire journey was wondrous! Every winding turn through majestic Big Sur revealed one glorious expanse after another, like the energetic crescendo of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.” At one turn I saw the 1,000- foot drop from the sheer rock cliffs to the shoreline. At another I could smell the salty sea air and hear the pounding surf. My senses filled me with joy and delight. I marveled as I thought: the God whom I serve spoke all of this vast beauty into being.
Suddenly, uncontainable joy spontaneously burst forth from the depths of my heart. Right there in the car, as we rounded each curve, I literally applauded and proclaimed “Bravo! Bravo!” as a shout of praise to the Lord. What else could I do? I am so glad that we took the time to experience it all. As you round the corners of your life what has God done that you need to applaud?
Almighty God, thank you for who you are and what you’ve done! You are the source of overflowing joy!
