READ : 1 Thessalonians 5:12-24
This prayer pulsates with the great missionary Apostle’s passion for believers. Is Paul an extremist? Is he setting a standard beyond the reach of ordinary believers? Is he a perfectionist and kill-joy? Compare Paul’s goal with the goals of people you know and with your own goals. Is Paul’s religion too idealistic?
Paul’s words are strikingly different from current popular talk about being human, flawed and sinful. People don’t expect perfection of themselves. And they tolerate the imperfections and weaknesses of others because “we’re human after all.”
During this month I will write from my heart and mind about the issue of holiness. I admit this is not a popular topic. But it is emphasized throughout the Bible. So stick with me. You will be happier and healthier if you do because our holiness is the will of our holy, well-meaning and all-wise God.
Holy God, help me face the rigor of holiness.
