READ : 1 Peter 1:13-21
Holiness may strike us as boring and lifeless, the direct opposite of energy. If you have been reading these reflections this month, you may wonder when I will change the subject. Not yet!
Have you ever felt as if you were breaking into crumbling pieces of meaningless effort? Do you ever think, “I want to be a whole, dynamic person? I don’t want to be just a dirty little pile of fragments held together by frayed threads of chaotic insecurity and purposelessness”? The Bible sketches out the cure for our frequent illusions and disappointments. God is urgently calling us into a life of energetic holiness. Are we ready to let go of our pointless dreams and poorly defined purpose for living?
We must be willing and eager to be whole and holy as God is. He wants to make us whole persons according to his faultless design. Jesus displayed God’s stunning perfection when he lived among us. He made holiness touchable, real, ordinary and wonderful! Fragrant and energizing like a red apple!
Holy Spirit, I invite your energizing presence to live in me. Amen.
