God's Instrument of Holiness is Your Body

Paul Hostetter

READ : 1 Corinthians 6:12-20

Our bodies, as the vehicles and instruments of our actions, are important. Sins are never confined to our minds but always show in our actions, speech and muscle! To make us holy God does a repair job on the engines of our thinking and emotions as well as on the chassis-our bodies-the instruments that express the power and direction generated by our souls and spirits.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a faultless body, never ill, never old, never tired? Wouldn’t it be sheer joy to have a fail-proof thinking process that is totally good and fueled only by pure emotions?

I believe God runs a good body shop! Some Christian traditions are eloquent about human depravity and the fact that humans are spiritual wrecks. Other traditions focus on sanctification, the holiness God has willed for us.

Human nature has suffered a smash-up. Although we will not be able to restore the pristine condition of the original model in this life, God is doing a magnificent job of refitting our bodies and transforming the propelling force of our minds and emotions.

Lord Jesus, refit and use my body for your holy purpose.
