READ : Romans 8:12-14
“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” The Lord led his people once before. The story is told in Exodus 13 and 14 where “the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them by day. And by night in a pillar of fire to give them light” (13:21). There were many obstacles along the way. They never would have made it without the daily presence of the Lord.
In order to be led you have to be going somewhere. Our Israelite ancestors were on the way to possess the Promised Land. The Apostle Paul is encouraging us today to set our goals, to have a purpose for getting up in the morning. Have you felt led to join in a prison ministry in your area? Or to work with your church’s senior high youth group?
Our passage for today reminds us that there is someone greater than the obstacles that try to get us to quit. Thank God, he led our ancestors safely across the Jordan. And we who are children of God today
Without you, O Spirit of God, we would have given up on our journey long ago. Thank you for protecting us from attacks from the rear, and for going in front of us to guide us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
