A Sure Escape From Worry

David Hartono

READ : Matthew 6:25-34

Who never worries? My guess is that all of us have experienced worries many times in our lives. When Jesus taught us not to worry, he meant that we should not worry continually because our Father in heaven will take care of us.

Seeking God’s kingdom and his righteousness means that our desire is focused on God. Understanding this alters our ways of looking at things because our heart will always be thankful for whatever we receive from God.

I had a friend who seemed to live in constant worry for his life and business. He was never satisfied with whatever he earned, always complaining and comparing himself to other people. He was also pretty stingy, and lived like a pauper.

I have another friend who lives with a very tight budget. But he is always satisfied with whatever he receives and he is thankful to God. His whole family lives happily. They have acquired the kingdom of God and his righteousness.

Lord, help us to acquire the joy of having you as the center of our lives so we will always be thankful to you.
