READ : Hebrews 10:19-23
Have you ever been in a situation where you just didn’t know if you had the right to enter? Or you were afraid to enter? The principal’s office? A banker’s office? The office of the president?
Once in Kenya I was invited to meet the President of the country. I was nervous. I mean, who was I, an unknown missionary from the bush, to meet the President of the whole country?!
But I had it backwards. The issue wasn’t who I was, but who he was. He had the power to summon me and he wanted to meet me. I could go into his presence confidently knowing that he had invited me.
It is like that with God. We should fear to enter his presence. After all, who are we to come before a holy God? Recall our reading for today. Do you find words of fear? No! Instead we find strong, reassuring words.
Right now could you stand before God boldly? It would be scary, wouldn’t it? Unless someone were standing with you. And there is! Jesus. We enter boldly into God’s presence because Jesus has paid our sin-debt. We enter calmly trusting that act of Jesus. We are absolutely confident because we are invited, all conditions cleared.
Thank you, Father, for clearing my case completely and opening wide heaven’s door to me.
