Who's in Charge Here?

READ : Daniel 4:28-37

Have you read today’s paper? If you cut out all the articles on the front page about bad news, how much of your paper would be left? Reading or watching the news can be pretty discouraging. It seems that everything goes from bad to worse. Where does it all end? Tell you what-if I thought that people were totally in charge of all that’s going on out there, I’d be really worried!

The good news is that humans are not in charge of all that’s going on out there. We may think we are, but God contradicts that error. Read the passage for today and see if you don’t agree. These verses are about Nebuchadnezzar, a king in the ancient world who became very powerful-and then proud. God humiliated him to show him that God was in control. When Nebuchadnezzar repented of his pride and confessed God as King, he was restored.

God knows the whole big picture. He has mapped out where he wants history to go. We may not always understand what’s going on, but we can always trust him to do what is best. Do you think God is trustworthy? Do you think he’s capable?

Dear Jesus, sometimes life looks out of control. Help me to trust that you know what you are doing.
