A Clear Focus

Finally brothers and sisters, pray for us . . . (v. 1)

Bill Bright was a man with a clear focus for his life. He knew who he was and why he was here. When he died last July, he left behind an impressive legacy. He was the founder and long time leader of Campus Crusade for Christ, the largest Christian ministry in the world. He wrote the little booklet, The Four Spiritual Laws, the most widely distributed religious booklet in history. He was responsible for the production of the JESUS film which has been viewed by billions of people. He demonstrated a consistent passion for his Savior and for reaching people everywhere with the Good News. Bright pursued his life’s purpose and finished well.

“What on earth am I here for?” Rick Warren asks in his popular book, The Purpose-Driven Life. What a penetrating question. Could anything be more important to consider? The apostle Paul certainly displayed plenty of purpose in his plea for prayer that the message of the Lord might spread rapidly through him.

So think: What is the purpose and focus of your life? “A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree” (Prov. 11:28 MESSAGE)

Lord, thank you for good plans for my life. Help me to pursue you and your plans daily. Amen.
