Thank God for his Son – a gift too wonderful for words! (2 Cor. 9:15 nlt)
One Christmas my Bible study group decided to adopt a disadvantaged family living in a trailer park. Since we’d never met them, the manager gave us their sizes, favorite colors and the kids’ favorite cartoon characters. Gathering to meet this family around the Christmas tree in the park’s clubhouse was an unforgettable experience. As the children opened their brightly colored packages, they were overwhelmed that strangers took the time to pick just the right gifts.
Watching them unwrap their presents was rewarding because we knew the gifts were so desperately needed. God gave us the much needed gift of his Son that first Christmas. Jesus is all we need for life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:3). In him we find forgiveness, power over temptation, and victory over death. He cares for us in this life with his constant presence and loving guidance. With him by our side, we can enter eternity with confidence, knowing that we will be accepted by a holy God.
Jesus is the gift too wonderful for words. If you haven’t done so, I urge you to “unwrap” him today by asking him into your life. Then you too will find that he is the perfect gift.
Father, thank you for sending the perfect gift of your Son to meet all my needs.
