The Healthy Disciple Experiences God's Empowering Presence

READ : John 14:15-27

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (v. 26 NIV)

Trait One: The healthy disciple understands the role of the Holy Spirit and lives daily with a fresh reality of his power and presence.

Christians have all sorts of excuses for not getting involved in ministry opportunities . . .

I should have shared my faith with my coworker, but I didn’t want to offend her.

I could have joined the short-term mission team, but I don’t have the time.

I would have helped out by teaching the Sunday school class, but I don’t feel comfortable working with children.

The shoulda-coulda-woulda litany of excuses we espouse shows us how little we depend upon the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to all believers of every generation. The best part of the promise is that he delivered on it!

So, take time today to invite the Holy Spirit to work his ministry within you and watch how his gifts unfold and his fruit emerges right before your very eyes. No more excuses . . . because with the Holy Spirit’s empowerment you too can live more abundantly!

Lord, send your empowering Spirit into my life today!
