READ : John 3:1-21
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (v. 16 NIV)
Trait Seven: The healthy disciple maximizes every opportunity to share the love of Christ, in word and deed, with those outside the faith.
What do you think makes Jesus smile? I believe it’s when he sees his children loving God, loving neighbors as we love ourselves, and loving the world he gave his life to redeem – all through a love defined by our words and deeds.
The gospel of our Lord can be summarized in one word: Love. Not a syrupy kind of love that’s short-lived, but an agape kind of love that’s eternal. Sharing God’s powerful, life-changing, no-matter-what kind of love is the mandate set before us.
Who in your world needs some serious loving today? It may be your spouse who misses your tenderness, or your child who longs for your attentiveness, or your friend who desires your closeness, or your neighbor who waits for your witness . . . or the lost, lonely, or least who are dying and in need of your faithfulness.
Your outward focus of love is a reflection of your inward journey of joy. Ask Jesus to remove barriers that would restrict you from loving today. This will certainly make him smile!
May all I think, say, and do bear gracious witness of your love today.
