READ : Romans 1:16-20
I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. (v. 16 NIV)
Helen Roseveare, missionary to the Congo, loved driving, and loved driving fast. She could drive for hours and never grow weary. But one day as she was returning home through the bush, Helen grew increasingly sleepy. Unable to keep her eyes open any longer, she pulled off the road, in the middle of nowhere, to rest a moment. A young man emerged from the shade of a bush, and asked, “Are you the one sent by the great God to tell me about Jesus?”
Noting Helen’s surprise, he explained. As a boy he had lived near a mission school, but had not been allowed to attend it. He often heard the name of Jesus spoken or sung, but knew nothing of him. He prayed to God, saying he wanted to know God and sensed that somehow Jesus was the key. He had been directed by the Lord to trek into the wilderness, and sit under this bush. Now, two days later, Helen had arrived, and you can guess the rest.
Every time a seeker responds to the knowledge they have, God will send someone to share the message of Jesus. You may be his answer today!
Lord, help me be ready to be your answer to someone’s prayer today.
